On Sunday January 20, 2019 the Ward saw a change of leadership. Counselors Velasco and Rodríguez were released and Kurt Williams and Aaron Hansen were called in their place. Velasco and Rodriquez were given an opportunity to share their testimonies. Both expressed a sense of relief and sadness. Williams and Hansen were also given an opportunity to share their testimonies. Both expressed commitment to living the gospel and continuing the work of those they are replacing. Thank you very much to the service of all!

Today the Coolidge Second Ward members had the greatest privilege of listening to and being a part of the greatest sacrament service of the year. The children of the Coolidge Second Ward Primary Program took to the stage and showed their faith and talents through singing, speaking, and bearing testimony. Here they are about to celebrate after a great performance with a popcorn and movie day. Thanks to all those that helped make this a reality. Special special thanks to the presidency: Camille Elefson (President) Lindsey Randall (First Counselor) Peggy Hansen (Second Counselor) Teri Douglas (Secretary)
Don't forget this fun exciting learning event id's coming up! Next week!
Ever so quietly nearly every Sunday without any fanfare this young lady takes her post at the Coolidge Organ. While the music and the gracefulness with which she plays are worthy of the highest praise, she aspires to none of that. Quite simply she loves to play and bear her testimony through music for all of Coolidge Second Ward to enjoy. She has been at it for quite some time. Her mother was proficient in Piano and made sure each of the children learned. Wherever she has lived she has been involved in playing the Piano or Organ. Whether it be for primary children or the entire congregation. Here she is playing one of her favorite hymns "As the Dew from Heaven Distilling" page 149 of the current LDS hymnal. I think it's also worth noting I asked if she had a least favorite hymn to which she didn't reply! Louise Williams has been a long time listener of Music and the Spoken Word. Music and the Spoken Word is the longest continually broadcast network radio program in the world! More information on it available at the links shared below. It is a blessing and a privilege for all of us in Coolidge Second Ward to listen to and be inspired by the beautifully rendered music of Louise Williams each Sunday. Thank you Louise Williams for spending the time energy and effort for all of us! More information on "Music and the Spoken Word" available at: http://www.musicandthespokenword.com/index.shtml Hymn 149 "As the Dew from Heaven Distilling" lyrics, pdf of the music and audio available at the following link: http://www.musicandthespokenword.com/index.shtml The text of this song was written by Thomas Kelly. More information on the author and his influence on Christian music can be found at this link (non-lds website, but very much so Faith promoting): http://www.musicandthespokenword.com/index.shtml

Pioneer Days All across the globe Mormons gathered as local and regional congregations to celebrate Pioneer Days. Pioneer Days celebrates the hard work and dedication of the early Saints making their trek to the Utah Valley arriving July 24th 1847 (link 1). Mormons in Coolidge Second Ward were no different. Over several months of preparation they gathered together commemorating the special day in our church’s history. The primary children sang special pioneer songs, folks dressed up in their pioneer garb, traditional pioneer trek food was eaten, and games of the early pioneers were played. As is evidenced by the photos and videos, It appears as though all had a great time. We all look forward to next year’s celebration. Special thanks to all those that played a part in making this day so special for all.
